Blueberry Festival to be held June 4th
Check out recipes and more this Saturday at the Red, White & “Blueberry” Festival. Festival held from 10-2 p.m. on Saturday, June 4 in the L&N Depot Plaza. The event is hosted by the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce – Main Street – Tourism Bureau and the Ocean Springs Fresh Market and sponsored by the Mississippi Press. One of the Coast’s most popular eating events to be held May 12
The 3rd Annual Taste of Ocean Springs Food & Wine Festival will be held on Thursday, May 12 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the L&N Depot Plaza. More than 30 of the coast’s best restaurants will be on site providing samples of their best tastes including: fried coconut shrimp, Asian chicken lettuce wraps, bread pudding, desserts, margaritas, selections from Lazy Magnolia Brewing Company and much more. Music will be provided by “Caution Swing Bridge”. Annual Herb & Garden Festival to be held in late March
The Annual Herb & Garden Festival will be held on Saturday, March 26 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. in the L&N Depot parking lot in beautiful downtown Ocean Springs. Nearly 100 vendors will feature everything from garden arts and crafts to herbs and plants, savory samples, demonstrations and activities. This year’s “herb of the year” is horseradish. Applications will be available at the end of the month. Local restaurant owner awarded Small Business Person of Year
SBA selects Maisano as state’s best by MBJ Staff Published: April 11,2010 The Mississippi U.S. Small Business Administration has selected Jonathan Maisano as its 2010 Small Business Person of the Year. Maisano’s Fine Wine and Spirits, open since Dec. 2005, is a wine and spirits business located in Ocean Springs. Maisano opened the business shortly after Hurricane Katrina and after much hard work now offers over 1,000 wine choices, 500 spirits gathered from all over the world, one of the best stocked and most diverse wine and spirit portfolios throughout the entire state. Maisano holds a certificate from the Court Of Master Sommelier’s. He and his wife, Jennifer, reside in Ocean Springs. He enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as watching sports and occasionally hitting the golf course when time allows. Maisano will receive his Mississippi award during a ceremony at SBA’s Lenders Conference scheduled for July 15-16 at the Imperial Palace Casino & Resort in Biloxi. He will also attend SBA’s National Small Business Week celebration May 23- 25 in Washington, D.C., where he will represent Mississippi and compete for the title of National Small Business Person of the Year. He was nominated by Dave Philo of the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) Chapter located in Gulfport. 2nd Annual Taste of Ocean Springs tickets available The 2nd Annual Taste of Ocean Springs tickets are now available at the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce – Main Street – Tourism Bureau offices located at 1000 Washington Avenue. Tickets are $35 per person or $60 per couple. Tickets must be purchased in advance as they will not be available at the entrance. The dress code is summer chic.
